About This Content Soak up the sun in the new Miami - West Palm Beach route for Train Simulator and drive the commuter rail line under cloudless blue skies from Mangonia Park to Miami Airport. The 70 mile (114 km) long route runs parallel to the Southeast Florida coast and has 18 stations along its length. A typical station on the route is composed of two side platforms connected by an overpass and two tracks, one for southbound trains and the other for northbound trainsThe most notable station along the stretch of line is West Palm Beach, which opened to passengers in 1925. This station was fully restored in 1991 and is on the National Register of Historic Places, its pastel walls and iconic architecture contrast the heady diesels that roll through. The new Miami Airport Station features prominently alongside Miami Central Station, although it is still to be officially opened. The two stations are a key point on the route, joining rail, metro, bus and airport shuttle services in one large transport hubUnder an agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation, CSX provides dispatch services, plant maintenance and freight traffic on the route, alongside passenger services operated by Amtrak. The route is relatively high speed too, with a maximum permissible speed of 79mph (127 km/h) for passenger traffic and 60mph (96 km/h) for freight traffic. Also included with the route are the P42DC and the Dash 8-40CW locomotives. The Silver Star passenger service is replicated on the route, which originates in Miami and runs all the way to New York along the Atlantic Coast. Between New York and Washington the train is hauled by either ACS-64, HHP-8 or AEM-7 locomotives; between Washington and Miami, P42s are used. The Silver Star has a distinctive set of coaches so travellers can travel the long distance in comfort.ScenariosEight scenarios for the route:Welcome to FloridaSouthern Silver ServiceRock Through the NightGrand OpeningDash 8 Yard WorkSilver Star to MiamiMainline FreightFlorida StormMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. I've never been so disappointed in a route before. It seems like Dovetail only put a token effort into recreating some landmarks of the route, and those landmark seem to be those which are near stations.Even I-95 is a baren wasteland. It'd be better if they put at least a wall of unmoving static vehicles on it because then it'd feel more like South Florida!. I hate to vote No on this one. It's sooo close. The South Florida "Feel" is great. The route is accurate. The stations seem decent. However, this has two major showstopper bugs (and one other bad one) that makes me hesitant to recommend it until they're fixed.1. Quick Start Routing from West Palm Beach is broken. Trains are always put in backwards. You can get around it using custom consists etc, but this shouldn't be necessary. It's ridiculous.2. Start from the South and you'll eventually find yourself slowly passing an Amtrak train travelling BACKWARDS at speed (kinda sorta racing you.) This would be amusing, except that the driver of this train frequently derails it, taking down the entire route with it, through no fault of your own.Less severe but still a problem is 3. You can't travel the entire route. There's no Free Roam with this route, and no Quick Start scenarios allow you to start at Magnolia Park, the Northern terminus of the Tri-Rail system.Fix all three (preferably fix the third by adding Free Roam) and I'll wholeheartedly recommend it. Unfortunately it's a beautifully done route that's just too bug ridden to recommend right now.. Very nice route! Kinda gives you that Florida "feel". The route has beautiful scenery, Lots of High Speed areas, etc.... only a few flaws as in....CSX Dash 8-40CW-Starts in Dynamic braking-Lights are a little too yellow-Same old problems like the other DLC'sAmtrak P42DC-Same engine, horn, bell sounds from the Empire Builder-Viewliner Stairs doesn't drop down.Mods can make it better but besides that, great route! Tons of workshop scenarios for it. I recommend it.. Locs feel really cheap.. I like it but the reused sounds AGAIN!!!!. I really liked the route the day I bought it but when I couldnt free roam the whole route was very dissapointed. If you're the type of person who likes scenarios I reccomend it for you but I prefer quick driving and free roaming the route therefore.. Lived in South Florida for 10 years. This route looks very real, Love the scenery.....A really big negative if you want to use Quck Drive, however, is it doesn't work on this route. Your train is placed in the opposite direction that you want to go, which makes Quick Drive unuseable. This is easily fixable my editing the Quick Driver scenario stating at West Palm southbound and turning the direction marker around. Search the forum for a thread on how to fix this.. **This is a temporary review** August 10, 2018Currently, I am unable to run Quick Drive on this route. The game actually freezes upon loading, crashing, and causing me to exit altogether. I am afraid to try career scenarios. I am glad I bought this on sale because I liked this route while it worked. I will update this review if\/when it is fixed. Very disappointed in DTG
